The primary purpose of the Friends of the Sacramento Public Library, as stated in our Articles of Incorporation, “is to create public support for expanding the goals and objectives of the Sacramento Public Library and its Branch Libraries, and to advocate for them to the extent permitted by law.” The Friends engage in library advocacy by partnering with state and national advocacy groups, expressing support for or in opposition to library-oriented legislation and budget items, participating in community events, and educating government officials.
